Sun Protection

Ladies, we all know about sun protection under makeup but we don’t practice. Not because we forget, but because it is one more layer, on a morning that is already short. So at RoseKin the protection sits where it cannot be forgotten: in the foundation, in the powder and in the day cream you were reaching for anyway.

We do not sell a conventional sunscreen. We sell SPF in the textures you already use, with actives that do something for your skin while they are there, and a daily supplement for support from the inside. We are not anti-sun. We are anti-damage.

What is sun protection under makeup, and why does ours look like makeup?

Sun protection under makeup means daily UVA and UVB defence on the thinnest, most exposed skin you have. The science on why is settled. The practice is not. A separate layer underneath foundation gets rubbed into the coverage that goes on top of it, forgotten on rushed mornings, or dropped because it feels heavy. RoseKin reverses the order. The filter lives inside the product you were already going to apply, so it spreads evenly and, more to the point, it actually gets worn.

Sunscreen under makeup only works when it is in the makeup

Applying sunscreen and then covering it is reasonable on paper and rarely holds up. The base you apply on top disturbs the layer underneath, the texture can feel greasy, and it costs time in the morning. Put the filter inside the makeup and the conflict disappears: one layer instead of two, nothing to wait for. Topping up in the afternoon is handled by the mineral powder, and topping up is exactly where a single morning application always falls down.

Mineral sunscreen for the face, or something else?

People searching for a mineral sunscreen for the face usually want two things: good tolerance, and no grey cast. Our Mineral Loose Powder is the mineral half of this routine, and because it is a powder you can reapply it over finished makeup without disturbing the result. Which filters are in which product is listed in full on every product page, in the complete INCI list. Reading it is very much encouraged.

Frequently asked questions about sun protection under makeup

Is makeup with SPF enough as daily sun protection?

For everyday wear, yes, on two conditions: you apply a full layer, and you top up during the day. That is what the Mineral Loose Powder exists for. For long sun exposure, sport or the beach, add a dedicated sunscreen.

Do I need sun protection for my face every day, even in winter?

Yes. UVA is present all year, passes through cloud and window glass, and is the part that drives skin ageing. Consistent daily protection does more for your skin over a lifetime than a high factor used only in summer.

What is the difference between a face sunscreen and makeup with SPF?

A face sunscreen has one job: protect. Makeup with SPF has three: protect, cover and treat. The factor is measured the same way for both. The difference is in the wearing, and in which of the two ends up on your skin every day.

How much should I apply?

More than feels natural, is the honest answer. Sun protection factors are measured at a set quantity, and most people apply well under it. Cover the whole face and blend outwards to the hairline, jaw and ears, then top up in the afternoon.

Does a supplement replace sun protection?

No. Protection on the skin remains the foundation of this and no supplement changes that. From Within is designed as a daily addition to your routine, not a substitute for it.

Makeup should do more than sit on your skin. It should protect it and improve it, every single day.
